Pursuant to the Johor State Smart City Blueprint’s mandate given to the Batu Pahat Municipal Council to develop data related policy/guidelines, two documents being initiated namely Internal Data Governance Guidelines and External Open Data Guidelines as foundational instruments for data-driven city management. Supported by the Smart Cities Program Alliance (SCPA), these guidelines establish structured frameworks for data stewardship, governance roles, compliance alignment, and responsible data sharing—positioning data as a strategic asset within municipal operations.
As one of the key agency involved in formulating the National Data Sharing Policy, the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) supported the effort and provided fruitful inputs to the development of the guidelines.
